It turns out, Switzerland is the best country in the world for expatriate workers for 2019, according to the latest HSBC Expat Explorer report. The Swiss nation jumped up the rankings from 8th place last year. Thanks to the low crime rate, good pay, fast career progression, and stunning beauty – the Alpine country has knocked Singapore off its perch as the world’s top nation for expatriates.
This is the first time in 5 years that Singapore was not ranked in the first place. The Southeast Asian city-state moved down to second, Canada was third, Spain fourth, and New Zealand fifth.
The annual survey gathered data from 18,059 expatriate workers in 163 destinations. The study breaks the findings into three sub-categories: living, career opportunity, and family life. The top ten of the “best countries to live and work for expatriates” was rounded out in order by Australia, Turkey, Germany, United Arab Emirates, and Vietnam.
